Girls 7A Powerlifting State Championship was held on Friday, March 27, at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson. Senior Diana Smiley of Hernando High School captured the 220-pound class at 800 pounds — the class’s closest finish, with DeSoto Central’s Abigail Orwig (795) and Southaven’s Lyrie Thomas (795) separated from the champion by just five and five pounds, respectively.
