About the Teacher
Education and Experience:
I hold bachelor's degrees in Journalism and English from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked in publishing as a magazine editor and as communications director of a nonprofit.
Here at Lake Cormorant, I teach 11th grade English and English elective courses. I have previously worked as a literacy coach at the middle school level, volunteered as an adult literacy coach, and taught creative writing and theater.
I also sponsor the LCHS Yearbook, Speech & Debate, Knowledge Bowl, and the Chess Club.
Welcome to Our Class
Welcome to LCHS! In my classes, 11th grade students will explore American Literature and prepare for the ACT test. Those who take World Literature will study mythology. Oral Communications students will develop the ability to speak in front of others. Technical and Workplace Writing students will learn the key components of communicating in a workplace setting. And Journalism students will create the next volume of our LCHS yearbook, "The Chomp."
We'll work together to grow our communication skills and gain confidence in our academic abilities.
